91¿´Æ¬Íø the Financial Aid Disbursement Process

All Financial Aid Programs disburse on scheduled dates each semester. A student's enrollment and financial aid requirement status can also affect the disbursement date of financial aid funds. Due to this, be prepared to pay upfront for textbooks, supplies, and other educational fees until financial aid eligibility is finalized.

Financial Aid disbursements are issued to students who have completed all financial aid requirements, are meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress, and are actively participating in enrolled classes for the semester. Please note, late start classes will have delayed disbursements once attendance for a late start class begins.

Financial Aid Disbursement Information

Financial aid is disbursed throughout the semester based on your eligibility, enrollment, and the type of financial aid you receive. The information below explains how disbursements work and when you can expect to receive your funds.

Your financial aid may not be disbursed on the first available date.

The dates below represent the earliest possible disbursement dates for eligible students. Your actual disbursement may occur later depending on several factors, including:
  • When your financial aid file is completed.
  • When all requested documents have been submitted and reviewed.
  • The type of financial aid you are receiving.
  • Your enrollment status.
  • Whether your classes have begun and your attendance has been confirmed.
  • Whether you are meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP).
  • Whether you are a first-time federal student loan borrower.
  • Whether you are in the Psychiatric Technician (Psych Tech) program.
The Financial Aid Office processes disbursements every week throughout the semester (except during holiday closures). If you become eligible after one disbursement date has passed, your financial aid will generally be included in the next available weekly disbursement.

  1. Financial aid is awarded by academic year and is generally divided between the Fall and Spring semesters.
    • When you view your awards in the my91¿´Æ¬Íø student portal, you will see your financial aid listed by both Aid Year and Term.

  2. The amount you receive each semester may vary based on your enrollment.
    • Some financial aid programs require a minimum number of units, while others are adjusted based on the number of units you are enrolled in. Please refer to the Financial Aid Programs page for specific enrollment requirements.

  3. Some financial aid programs are required by federal or state regulations to be paid in multiple installments.
    • For example, a semester award may be divided into two or three disbursements rather than being paid all at once.

  4. Financial aid is disbursed only for coursework that is eligible for financial aid and for classes you are actively attending.
    • If you enroll in a late-start class, the financial aid associated with that course will generally not be disbursed until the class begins and your attendance has been confirmed.

  5. Psychiatric Technician (Psych Tech) students may have different disbursement schedules. Please contact the Financial Aid Office if you have questions about your program's disbursement dates.

  6. The Financial Aid Office reviews student eligibility and processes disbursements throughout the semester. If you become eligible after an initial disbursement date, your financial aid will generally be included in the next available weekly disbursement. More information about processing deadlines can be found on our disbursement schedule.

Financial aid is processed throughout the semester on scheduled disbursement dates. The Financial Aid Office generally processes disbursements each Tuesday (except during holidays).

If you are receiving a refund, the timeline and steps for the refund is as follows:

Tuesday
: Financial aid is applied to your student account.
Thursday: Refund information is sent to our refund processor.
Friday or later: Most students receive their funds, depending on their selected refund preference and their bank's processing time.

Please note: Banks and payment methods vary. Some students may receive their funds later than the estimated refund date.

Log in to your my91¿´Æ¬Íø student portal and select Pay Fees - View Account. If your financial aid has been disbursed, you will see:

-A Refund transaction posted to your account.
-A reduced or negative account balance.

If your balance is negative, that amount is expected to be refunded to you based on your selected refund preference.

Financial aid freeze dates are dates when the student's enrollment status is frozen or locked for financial aid purposes.

  • Adding/dropping courses should be done prior to the financial aid freeze date for the semester.
  • Courses added after the financial aid freeze date cannot
be used to increase enrollment status for financial aid eligibility.

  • Fall 2026 Freeze Date: September 15, 2026
  • Spring 2027 Freeze Date:  February 16, 2027
  • Summer 2027 Freeze Date: June 15, 2027

If your awards are posted prior to the start of the semester, they will disburse on the first main disbursement dates of the semester.

If your awards are posted after a main disbursement date, they will disburse on the next Tuesday that comes along. The Financial Aid Office processes disbursements every week (with exceptions for holidays) throughout the semester.

If you are receiving Federal Pell Grants, remember that the amount you are paid is based on the number of units you are enrolled in and attending.

For example, if you are enrolled in 12 units but 3 of them start later in the semester, then on the 1st disbursement date, you will be paid the amount for 9 units because these are the units you are enrolled in and attending. Then, once your 3-unit late start class begins, you will be paid for the remaining units.

If your appeal is approved (and your awards are already posted), your funding will disburse on the following Tuesday.

Are you having a problem with your disbursement?

  • If you would like to cancel or not receive a portion of your disbursement please email the Financial Aid Office.
