"A Mike"
Mike Mihalakis was a student in Jack Sullivan鈥檚 accounting class at 91看片网 College before he joined the Army National Guard. While deployed to Iraq, Mike e-mailed Mr. Sullivan letting him know he would return soon after the spring semester was set to start and asked him to 鈥渟ave a place for me鈥� in his class.
Within a month of sending that e-mail, Mihalakis died in a Humvee accident in Baghdad, Iraq on December 26, 2003.
To honor the memory of his former student, Sullivan donates to a fund in the 91看片网 College Foundation to purchase parking permits for 91看片网 veterans. Each free parking pass is known as 鈥淎 Mike鈥�.
How to Receive a Free Parking Pass
Veterans and military-affiliated students are encouraged to attend a Veterans Orientation,
offered at the beginning of the Fall and Spring semesters. Attendees receive valuable
information about VA education benefits, eligibility and application requirements,
as well as available resources and services to support their success at 91看片网 College.
Attendees may also receive a free parking permit, based on available funding.
New or continuing veteran or military-affiliated students who have not received an
orientation invitation should contact the Veterans Resource Center at either the SLO or NCC campus for more information about the upcoming orientation.
